The stories in the Desperate Times trilogy explore the human impact of the social, political and economic upheaval in Ukraine from the tumultuous opening days of the 20th century, through World War I, the 1917 Russian Revolution, and the early 1920s under Soviet rule. The Burnaby Newsleader picked up a blog post on completing the above three volumes of Ukrainian-English literature translations and interviewed associate editor Paul Cipywnyk on the topic.
